I’m just back from a fantastic trip to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco,set up by an off-beat travel company called Natural High. Me and the owner of the company, Alex Edwards, tagged along with a family of Berber nomads as they made the spring migration from the Sahara up to the summer pastures in the High Atlas. We walked 10-16 miles a day with their camels, mules, flocks of sheep and goats, and a stalwart donkey. In six days we never saw a road, a village, a building, or a tyre track, and it was very much an Old Testament feel. Nomads in robes with their flocks; rugged arid mountains.
